May 2012
We have created a new beer recently:-
‘Golden Wheat Beer’ 5% - This beautiful cloudy wheat beer has intense initial bitterness followed by a spicy long fruit finish.
Roy has, for a long time, wanted to brew a wheat beer and finally has. The first brew is already spoken for, but the next brew is planned for later on in May, so by the end of May it should be up and ready to go out again. Look out for it in your local.
For the Royal Jubilee we have brewed ‘Queen of Diamonds’ 6%. This will be a one-off brew, so if you are lucky enough to see it around make sure you try some and toast ‘Her Majesty’.
Unfortunately, as you can see from our Prices page, we have had to increase them slightly following the beer duty rising (again!!) in April, but we hope you still think our beers are worth it.
Finally, but most importantly, each budget the government use what they call the Beer Duty Escalator. This automatically puts duty up by 2% above inflation even without any other increase in the budget. So in the recent budget despite the Chancellor announcing no change in beer duty, it still went up by about 10p per pint. To help remove this please go to http://bitly.com/EDM2785 and sign the e petition to stop the beer duty escalator. There needs to be 100,000 signatures for the Government to review the situation.
